History
"Corio Pony Stud" is located in the southern Riverina area of New South Wales, 43 kilometres north of the New South Wales - Victorian Murray River border towns of Echuca/Moama.
The stud was first established in July of 1977 with the purchase of a chestnut ASSPS Foundation mare "Corio Bindi".

Having always liked "Royal Domino" blood we looked for a suitable Arabian stallion with which to breed her and found him in the "Aloha Arabian Stud" legendary stallion, "Talquah Talik" who was by "Royal Domino" and out of "Quickstep". "Bindi" had two part arab daughters from "Talik", "Corio Sharah" and "Corio Jeddah". These two mares went onto (after successful careers in the show ring) becoming the foundation block for our stud. They were soon joined by another mare "Ambaura Dahana" by "Glenmore Toledo" and out of "Panda". She was purchased from Helen Dann of "Glenelen Arabian Stud" in Mathoura, N.S.W.
The stud has always concentrated on breeding quality ponies of good bone and confirmation as well as the must have - temperament. They must be ponies that young children and even nervous adults can ride with absolute confidence.

In order to fulfil all of these requirements we searched and eventually found the ideal stallion for this purpose standing at stud in Northern Victoria. He is "Neva Tia Dartanyan", a W.A. bred 13.2hh liver chestnut by "Karingal Three Cheers" (x Heirloom x Sindh) out of "Raquel" (x Karas out of a Welsh Mountain mare).
Right from the start "Danny" proved that he had the temperament to breed on with as our young sons quite often rode him around bareback (both at the same time!) and he looked after those boys as if they were his own.

"Danny" was followed some years later by a second stallion to put over his mares. "Aloha Trinity" by "Lindall Zeke" out of a "Talquah Talik" mare, "Aloha Talaria". "Trinity" is a bay part arab stallion standing at 14.11/2 hh and with an excellent temperament suitable to put over "Danny" mares. Progeny from these matings have unbelievable temperaments yet are quality ponies that have always excelled in their chosen disciplines.
As we go into the 21st century we continue to breed temperament first and foremost and will continue to do so with the arrival of "Danny's" son, "Corio Ultimate Viktor".
